The return match between the Poneke and Palmerston Clubs was played at Wellington on Tuesday, and resulted in a win for Palmerston by a go* and a try to nil. In the first spell J. manning got a try, which Jewell converted, and a try was scored by Speed in the second spell. Great disappointment was felt on Tuesday when the morning train arrived from Wanganui, and it was found/^hat the /" team from the Wanganui Club had not come down. Being a holiday word could not be sent, and it was not' till the train arrived that Mr S. Strachan received notice that only eight men of the team had turned np at the time the train left, and it was deemed useless to proceed with that number. Arrangements had been made for the reception of team, and a large number of visitors came into town for the purpose of witnessing the match. The match between the Kaieraus and Marton was won by the former by two goals (potted) to a try. All the scoring was done in the first spell. j The following will represent the -FeildJuniors in a match against Marton, at Marton, next Saturday :— Bellve, Fanthorpe, Foster, Rutherford, I. Watts, R. Parr, Murdoch, Lucre, Keen, F. Saywell, Collins, G. Richardson, Newman, McFarlane, Mingins, Scale, and Whisker.
