Prospects are doubtful, except for combining and merino sorts. Mr Licht, the sugar expert, estimates that the eight months production will show a decrease of 168,000 tons, and expects there will be a decrease on the whole campaign of 195,000 tons. The list for the next series of wool sales has closed. The total arrivals to date numbor 425,000 bales of which 58,000 have been forwarded on to the manu-l facturers, leaving 367,000 available forj the sale. A cargo of Australian wheat has been sold at B7s 9d. May 25. The total quantity of flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,784,000 quarters, aud for the Continent is 1,276,000 quarters. Shares in the Bank of New Zealand are new issue, £7 os ; old, £5 ; National Bank of New Zealand, £1 os.
