His property is left in equal proportions among his ten children. The Manawatu Railway Company ob« jected in the Review Court to the valaa« tion of £59,310 for a portion in the Horoi kinm Riding. Mr Crombie admitted the i railway was exempt from the Land Tax as a public railway, but it appeared it was assessable for the purpose of local taxation. The Board upheld the valuation, which is at the rate of £2000 per mile. A strange disappearance is reported to the police, Mrs J. McDonald having been missing for some days. She was suffering from melancholia for some time. A mass meeting of Unionists is to bo held here when the Southern labour mem bers arrive. Auckland, This Day. Arrived, this morning, Alameda, from 'Frisco. The Board of Education sat all day considering the charges against Mr Harrison, headmaster of the Beresford street School. The Board decided to consult the Committee as to the removal of Harrison from the Beresford street School ; he to be debarred ia the mean - time from school duty.
