Intelligence from Mauritius states that a hurricane has swept the country, destroying half the crops, and driving thirteen ships ashore. A large number of deaths are also reported. Mr Gladstone has asked Mr Shipton for details of the eight hours proposals. In the House of Commons, Mr Sexton moved for the rejection of the Irish Local Government Bill. Mr Dillon was elected chairman of the Freeman's Journal, and Mr Healy a director, the discussion having lasted four days. By an earthquake in Erivan, in the Caucusus, three villages were destroyed, and 26 lives lost. New Yobk, May 20. Half of Port Louis has been devastated by floods. The Mississippi and Missouri are both overflowing their banks, and great injury to property has occurred. Upwards of 100 persons were drowned, and eight thousand families are homeless.
