TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sib,— l regret-to hear that some of thi business nxenih ifeildihff are endeavour irig ; to break up the Wednesday half-holi day. Now, I think when we—l write ai an employee-work from:B a.m. until 6.3( p.m. and very often up to 7 p.m., and again .after tea Jeom 7.30 to 9.30 ana 10. and on Saturday nights Up to 10.30 ano 11 o'clock, we are surely entitled to. a few hours ; recreation during the week. ] think the public who, no doubt, were a littJe inconvenienced at first before the,y became thoroughly acquainted with the half-holiday will agree that we are entitled ,to a few hours, for ourselves during the week.^ The ordinary labourer and mechanic only works eight hours a day, and*eeihgthtrt^e, on an average* worh 10 hourij surely the storekeepers should not' envy our. half-holidayi. — I amv&c, Employe.
