New Zealand cheese is quoted at 42s to 545. . - There is a large demand for May cargoes of Australian wheat, owing to the higher dues imposed by the French Government on cereals. The present tone pf off-coast cargoes is strong. . The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Corny— —y" (— limited) -have — eeeived the following London cablegram, dated 13th May :—" Tallow— There is rather better demand, bnt quotations are unchanged since last telegram. Frozen Meat — The beef market is dull. New Zealand beef, forequarters, is worth 3§d per lb. Lamb — Market weaker, and price has declined £d per lb. Other quotations unchanged since last telegram." The Wellington branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets for the week ending Wednesday, 12th May, as follows : — Wool. — There is: nothing special to re : port regarding this staple. Odd lots continue reach us for local sale, and are readily disposed of at satisfactory figures. The next series of colonial wool sales open in London on the 14th prox. Sheepskins. — All coming forward meet with ready sale. During the week we have placed large quantities of both green and dry Bkins, at prices ranging for the former from 3s lOd to 4s Bd, the latter being for a splendid line of skins ; and for dry skins prices equal to 4d to 5d per lb, according to quality. Hides— The improvement reported in our last circular still continues. All forward have been placed at prices then quoted. Oats — There is a fair demand, and prices are firm, with an upward tendency, as in consequence of the unsettled weather in the South Island, threshing operations there are considerably retarded. We repeat our last week's quotations. For good heavy feed, ls lOd to Is 10£ d, and fair feed Is 8d to Is 9d, sacks extra. Wheat— No alteration to report. We quote good whole wheat, 2s lOd to 3s. Hemp— No improvement in price of this fibre. The market continues yery dull, owing to the extremely low prices ruling in London and America, and operators will not touch parcels except at -greatly reduced values. Our London manager cables— Market yery weak ; medium is worth £20 per ton. Frozen Meats — We are pleased to again report a continued firmness in the London market. Our manager there cables as follows :— The beef market is firmer. Fore and hindquarters are worth respectively 3£d and 4^d per lb.. Other quotations are unchanged since last telegram. -'. .'
