DATE OF EXECUTION FIXED. (per press association. London, May 7. Deeming's pgtition to the Privy Council for commutation of the death sentence has not yet been filed, but at the request of Mr Lyle, the condemned man's counsel in Melbourne, the application will be made on the 11th inst. A petition on the grounds of insanity has been lodged with the Executive Council iv Melbourne here on behalf of Deeming. Melboubne, May 9. The Executive Council had the case of Williams (Deeming) under consideration tc day, when it was decided not to interfere with the sentence of death passed on him. The date of execution is fixed for 10 o'clock on the morning of Monday, the 23rd inst.
