Two Claimants for a Man's Body
A very curious c^se of rival claim • ants for a dear! body occurred at Hinckley lately. A man named Hobson, a sewing-machine agent, died at Darby Road, Hinckley, after a fortnight's illness, and a great deal of sympathy was manifested in that town for his widow, who had only been married to him three weeks. The day of the funeral was fixed, and in th^ morning several of deceased's friends arrived from a distance, and amongst them was a very respectablydressed woman, who when she saw the body, threw herself upon it and gave indications of extreme sorrow. She stated that he was her husband, who had resided with her at Leeds till a few weeks ago. When he left her she advertised for him, saying " Return, and all the past will be forgiven," but though the notice appears to have been seen by Hobson he declined to do as requested, and married another woman at Hinckley as already stated. The funeral arrangements were not carried out, and it was decided, amid a scene of a most paiuful character, to remove the remains from Hinckley for interment, at Leeas by the widow.
