Manchester Road Board
The usual monthly meeting of the Manchester Eoad was held at the Board's Office, Feilding, on Saturday last. Present — Messrs Lethbridge (chairman), Pnrkiss, Wheeler, Downes, Pearce and Reeve. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From Secretary Palmerston Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, inquiring what amount the Manchester Eoad Board bad spent during the year in Charitable Aid. From J. C. Maunder, offering to remove toll house and erect same on new site for £37. From A. Whibley, re removal of fence in Ashurst. From R. S. Pudney, requesting the Board to place his name on the rate book for sections 18, 19, 20, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Colyton. From Secretary to Treasury, asking for a return of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for the year ending 31st March, 1892. From Commissioner of Taxes, forwarding a statement of values of land for the three years commencing Ist April, 1892, for the Manchester Road District. From J. Collinson, requesting permission to erect a gate on the northern end of the Kairanga line. From A. C. Ritchie, forwarding cheque for £43 3s Od, being amount expended by the Board for Charitable Aid purposQS for the year 1891-92. From Under-Secretary for Public Works, acknowledging receipt of letter applying for permission to take possession of Roadman's house at the mouth of the Gorge, and stating that the letter had been referred to the Survey Department. From Survey Department, stating that the Board may take possession of house at the mouth of the Gorge. From H. Crabb, asking the Board to have the road in front of his section made. From Manager Bank' of Australasia, re overdraft on 31st March, and stating that same would have to be paid off, and arrangements made for opening a new account from the first April, and that the Board authorise two of its members to make such new arrangements. GENERAL. Mr H. Thomas waited on the Board and requested the Board to proceed with tlie work of making n. bridle track on the Penelope road at once. Tenders were opened for forming and metalling a portion of the Waituna road and delivery of metal on the Bunnythorpe road. Proposed by Mr Eeeve, seconded by Mr Downes, That the offer of Mr J. C. Maunder for the erection of the toll house be accepted. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Downes, That permission be givea to Mr Joseph Collinson to erect a gate as asked by him.^ate to be removed at the demand of therooard. —Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Pearce, That the name of E. L. Pudney be placed on the rate roll for sections 18, 19, 20 and 1, 2. 3, 4, 5, 6 at Colyton, late Mangaone.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, seconded j by Mr Pearce, That the treasurer (Mr Wheeler) and the mover be a committee to arrange with the bank for an overdraft for the year ending 3 1st March, .1893 and that a cheque be givea for the balance at 31st March last.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That tenders be at once called for clearing the scrub off that por ■ tion of the Makino road situated between the head of the Makino creek and Mr Cockburn's woolshed. Tenders to be opened on Friday the Bth iostant by any two members of the Board. — Carried. Proprtsed by Mr Purkiss, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That the Engineer report on tho cost of forming Pearce street from Stanway Eoad to Mr Crabb's section, report to be in by the Bth inst.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Lethbridge, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That a surveyor be employed to suryey the dircision on For- j long's road.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the old bridge on the Makino road near Mr Piicher's be replaced with a suitable pipe culvert ; also that the road men be instructed to remoye the lawyers off the Stanway road. — | Carried. I Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Downes, That the name of F. Y. Lethbridge be placed upon the rate roll as occupier in place of Messrs Lethbridge and Sons. — Carried. Proposed by Mr "Reeve, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the tender of Younger and Laing for the supply of metal on the Bunny thorpe road be accepted, and that Mr Anderson will pay one third of the cost the Board will form and metal the Waituna road to his house. — Carried. The usual monthly accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
