\VV.n UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION | New Plymouth, This Day. It is fine weather for the first day of the Anniversary races and there is a good attendance of the public on the course. Nine have paid up for the T.J.C. Handicap last night Dams being the only absentee. Mr Powell is starting at the meeting. Results are as follows : — Hack Hurdles — Flukera, 1 ; Gingalee, 2 ; Baccarat, 3. Dividend, L 4. Hack Scurry. — Playboy, 1 ; Badger, 2 ; Lodore, 3. Dividend, LlB 4s. Taranaki J.C. Handicap.— Prestige, 1 ; Scot Free, 2 ; St. Malo, 3. Also ran— Weka, Whisper, Lochness, Dreamer, Krina, and Awarua Rose. Weka led from the jump and held command for two furlongs from home when the field closed in, here Prestige came away in the straight and won under the whip by a length from Scot Free, St. Malo a fair third. Dividend, L 7 12s.
