The aboye committee met last night. Present — Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge, Curtis and Gould. A letter was received from the Education Board containing the names of gentlemen nominated for election. ( The committee gave their votes to Messrs Carson, Fry, and Ross. Further correspondence was received from the Education Board, asking for the name of the committee's auditor. Mr E. Goodbehere was appointed. A letter was received from J. L. Walton l containing his resignation as pupil teacher. The head teacher, in his report, complained of the irregular attendance of many of the scholars, and mentioned that the Kaiapoi school committee had increased their attendance to 90 per cent. | by enforsing the compulsory clauses of the Act. He wrote : " A similar attendance would give us an average of over 300, and j would entitle us to two more pupil teach* j era on the staff, and would add £12 per annum to the committee's receipts." The head teacher recommended that Eleanor j Watts be appointed in Walton's place, Ada Watts be appointed cadet, and E. Amesbury monitor, this being their order of seniority by examination and length of service. The recommendations were approved of. It was decided to hand over the list of irregular attendants to Constable Tuohy. Having passed the monthly accounts the committee adjourned.
