Autumn Meeting was' close and muggy, but the attendance was much better than on any of the other days. Following are the details : — All Agkd Stakes, of 500 soys ; weight-for-age. One mile. — Strathmore, 1 1 Bungebah, 2; The Captain, 3. Time, luiin. 40£ sec. . Unplaced Two-year.old Stakes, of 800 soys; five furlongs and a half. — Urith, 1; Premier, 2; Willyama," 3. Time, lmin 9f sec. ' The Place Handicap, of 400 soys. One mile and a half. — Eeprisal, 1; La Tosca, 2 ; Norberfc, 3. Time, 2min 36£ sec. < . . The Steeplechase, of 800 soys. Ab&tti three miles.-— Jack's the Lad, 1; Shanks, 2 ; Freeman, 3. Fourteen started. Time, 6min 48sec. The Loch Plate, of 500 soys, w.f.a. j winner extra and maiden allowances ; one mile and three quarters.— ZaliuaK, If Highborn, 2 ; Titan, 3. These were th« only starters. Time, 3min 9sec. It will be seen by a telegraphed report in another column that on the last day of the V.B.C. Autumn Meeting, five out of the sis races run were won by New Zealand bred horses. Strathmore won the All-aged Stakes; Beprisal the Plac& Handicap; Jack's the Lad the Steeplechase ; Zalinski the Loch Plate ; and TheWorktnan the Farewell Handicap. Thi& is a feather in the cap of New Zealand breeders. Jack's-the-Lad is well known in this district, the horse having ran at the Feilding Hunt Club Eaces and at other meetings on this coast.
