Colyton News
fI'ROM OUR OVTS CORRESPONDENT.] The tea meeting and dance in aid of the Colyton Hall funds, which came off in the hall on Friday night last, was a thorough success, both socially and financially. T ho ladies of the district provided the tea, and they deserve every credit for their energetic enterprise. About a hundred and fifty persons sat down to the repast, and it must indeed have been gratifying to the ladies to see their efforts so well appreciated. Dancing commenced at about half past eight. The hall was prettily decorated with ferns, &c,, about forty couples graced the floor. We were again indebted to the ladies for the splendid refreshments. Mr E. F. Haybittle's string band supplied the music, and as their capabilities are now so well known it is needless for me to expatiate upon them further. Mr H. Bilderbeck acted as M.C, in his usual efficient manner. Taken altogether the directors of the Hall Company have every reason to be well satisfied with the results, as there will be a very substantial surplus. The new hotel building, to be erected at Colyton, will be commenced by the contractors, Messrs Runnier, Duley, and Craven, in the course of a few days. I hear another similar building is to be put up at Bunnythorpe.
