Congregational Union
[.FSB PBESB ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, This Day. At the Congregational Union, the Rev. Mr Bradley, on discussing his paper on the church in relation to the masses, said that the fact could neither be denied nor ignored that the masses are alienated from the churches, but not necessarily, therefore, from Jesus Christ, so the working classes felt that the churches neither understood nor cared for their special interests. As a fact the Protestant churches had not so lofty and com* prehensive an ideal as the Roman Church. Individual conception of the purpese of the gospel must now yield to a broader view embracing the reconciliation of man with man in all relations as well as the reconciliation of evil with good. A deputation from the Baptist Union waited on the Union when the President of the former pointed out numerous points of agreement between the two sister denominations. A deputation from the Ministers Association also attended. The members of both deputations received welcome in the name of the United Colonial Union of Australasia.
