+ [united press association. 1 Losdos, February 10. The Waterloo Cnp is creating some little interest, and the nomination of Colonel North is supported at 4 to 1. Hawera, February 12. Notes By Mentor. Judging by the excellent acceptances and entries the Egmont Racing Club have received for their Autumn Meeting, which comes off next Wednesday and Thursday, it should prove to be one of the best that has ever been held on this coast. The acceptances are by far the largest the club has eyer received. Fifteen horses have been accepted for the Egmont Handicap, fourteen for the Flying, ten for Welter, six for the Hurdles, and no less than twenty-six cried content for the Hack Flat out ot thirty-one nominations, while ten remain for the Hack Hurdles. The club have been well rewarded for the liberal prizes they offered, £1000 being the amount given away in stakes during the two days. When the Feilding programme is made public I hope I shall have the pleasure of seeing a similar one to the Egmont, both m the amount of stakes and the class of races. Good prizes are certain to attract the best horses and large fields, and without the two latter the attendance cannot be expected to be large with the opposition there is at Easter time. I will now endeavor to place my readers on the right track as to the winners at Egmont. The task is certainly a very difficult one, as is invariably the case with Mr Henry's handicapping. This gentleman, I might say, has good reason to be proud of his first effort for the Egmont Club, because he has beaten the records of the previous handicappers badly. For the Hurdle Race I . shall expect our local nag, Pyramus,'to gain the judge's verdiot, with Rough close handy. Hack Hurdles.— Flukem or Raven. The Egmont Handicap comes next, and it requires some picking. Boulanger, 8-9, has the post of honor, but I am afraid he will find the journey too far ; the same remark applies to Whisper, but to come to the point, I shall plaoe them as follows : La Petite Fille 1 Krina 2 Fraternite ... ... 3 Sapling Stakes. — St. Katherine, 1 : Variety, 2. The Hack Flat is a regular puzzler ; to select the winner from twenty-six horses is no easy task, so I shall expect the winner to come from the following half dozen : — lonic, Phormtum Tenax, Dingo Ngataoma, Maroro, and Sunday School. Flying Handicap and Welter. — St. if alo or Weka should prove the winner of these events.
