A Bill has been introduced into the Senate lo authorise the construction of three new battle ships and 15 other warships. The United States Government are agreeable that Great Bntian should arbitrate in the dispute with Chili. With the exception of the New York Herald, the press snpport the line of action adopted by Presideut Harrison in the dispute with Chili. A member of the House of Representatives made a statement reflecting on the President. Several other members resented the attack, and for a short period there was great confusion in the Chamber. Valparaiso, January 27. The Chilian Government have purchased a new cruiser, and are also hastening the completion of the ironclads Arturofrat and Prosidonte Pinto, which are being built in Europe. tt has been ascertained that the United States cruiser Philadelphia has been sent to Gibraltar to intercept the Arturofrat on her way out. The Court has ordered the waiters in hotels at which the Dae d' Orleans and Madame Melba are reported to have stayed, to give evidence in the divorce case in England. In connection with the murder of a number of girls in June last, a man has confessed to complicity in the outrage. A woman is now on her trial for being implicated in the murders. London, January 27.
