Our attention has been drawn to a case of cruelty to a horse this morning. As we have reason to believe that the persons who are alleged to have been guilty of the act are ignorant of the punishment which may follow, we quote, for their information, Clauso 7 in the Police Offences Act bearing on the subject. " Any person who cruelty beats, illtreats, overdrives, overloads, abuses, or tortures any animal, may be imprisoned for any period not exceeding six months." We publish this as a warning to those who, perhaps, as much from thoughtlessness as actual cruelty 6f disposition, have no pity on horses suffering from collar sores or other wounds, which are unable to do the work required of them.
