The Kiwitea Sports
♦ A meeting of the Kiwitea Sports Committee was held at the Cheltenham Hotel on Saturday, January 16th. There was a good attendance, and Mr Tappin was elected chairman. The Secretary read the correspondence re advertising and the refreshment booth. It was decided to accept Mr Lever's offer for the booth. The Secretary announced that he had received 73 nominations for the various open handicap events. It was resolved that Mr Copeland be appointed handicapper, and that the secretary forward the nominations to him at once, with a request that he send the handicaps to the papers as soon as possible. Messrs Jas. Barrow and Tappin were appointed judges, and Mr Shirley starter. It was resolved that the prices of admission be — Adults, Is ; children under 12, half price ; all horses, Is ; but that anyone entering a horse for any event shall have the shilling refunded.
