The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 1892.
People living about the Pahiatua district are having some very uncomfortable experiences just now. In addition to the wholesale poisoning case, which has created such a sensation in the colony, we learn from the local paper that. " A few days since a Mangahao settler was partaking of some biscuits made by his wife, and noticing they had a somewhat bitter taste he decided on giving soute to the dog before eating any more of them. The dog was soon affected, and on giving him some more of the biscuits he went away into the bush and has not since been seen, and is supposed to have died. The ingredients from which the biscuits were prepared were purchased in Woodville, and they are now in Mr Eidd's hands for analysis." This incident may give a clue that will lead to the elucidation of the mystery which yet surrounds the fatal poisoning cases.
