The great Fair, which is to be held about this time next year, will be located in the midst of about 1000 acres of park, ou, the so'ulh-western shore of Lake Michigan, and about six miles from the Centre of "the city: It is expected that the enterprise will run into about £4,000,---000/ Already buildine contracts have been completed or let amounting to £1,---000,000. The larger buildings will cover about 100 acres of ground, and their cost ini round numbers', exclusive of interior decoration and furnishing, will be as fol low :— Administration Hall, £58,000 ; Machinery Hall, £200,000; Agricultural Hall, £92, ,000; Horticultural Hall, £45,---000; Transportation Annexe, £40,000; Electrical Building, £5S,000; Fisheries Building', £26,000; Mines and Mining, £45,000; Manufactures Building, £166,---000 j Fine ' Art .Gallery, £100,000; Women's Building, £20,000; United States Building. £50,000 ;• Live Stock Building, £70,000 ; Illinois State Building, £50,000; and Casino. £30.000. Work is proceeding at a most rapid rate, operations being kept going, by means -of the electric light, through the 24 hours of the day, and the men working in eight : hour gangs. It is fully expected that everything will be in readiness for the public opening some months .before the date, fixed, and that the total cost will be kept well; within ; the : estimate.
