The Fielding Star. TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 1892.

We are glad to learn that a notice of motion has been tabled by Councillor Oarthew, to be brought forward at tfie ineeting of the Borough Council OfrThursday nextj to the effect that the council authorise the expenditure of a sum of money in boring for artesian water in Manchester square. The mover has Wfj understand prepared a statement jgiving the fullest details of what has jbeen done in other parts of the district where good results have been attained, and a plentiful supply of water struck. There can exist no reason| whatever why the same cannot be done here. We hope therefore that the motion will be cordially supported by the Council as a'tfhoie.-"c ; | jLibttbb we publish to-day from Mr Joseph G. Browne js of considerable icaiportance to wool! growers in this .district ;"who-l are \>f necessiy compelled to send their wool away by : the^lraiiwayY ' That increased ac--oommodationia -absolutely required at the Feilding Railway Station has been ■ patent to* us for* Some time, and we r haye i not/failed to give expression to our opinion that the requirements of the settlers in this district in that connection hate not' yet been' met. The only way to have this grievance removed is for the business men, woolgrowers and other farmers, to hold a meeting at which the matter could be fully discussed, a petition formulated, and a deputation appointed to wait on the Bailway Commissioners. This plan has been adopted with marked success in other parts of the colony, and therefore we have a reasonable hope that it would succeed here. One good ground our settlers have for expecting even special consideration is, that in proportion to the population the Feilding Station supplies a greater revenue at a less cost for collection than any other station in the colony.
