Hundreds of thousands o? acres in the vicinity of Brooking in the Rirerina district hare been laid waste by a bush fire, which is the, largest ever known in> thai part of Ike colony. The fire, which was caused by a child stepping on a wax match, is still burning, and as the weather is hot it .will continue unless rain falls. It is calculated that it will takb two or three Reasons to restore the grass to the condition it was in previous to the fire. IiAUNcesTON, January 4. Up to date the exhibition has been visited by 75,0P0 people. .
