Haybittle, snd others, met together at the Empire Hotel to say farewell to Mr Christopher Nicholson, the popular footballer and cricketer, who left by the mail train en route for Christchurch. Mr G. Kirton was voted to the chair, and in a brief addross made complimentary reference to the many pro-jninent-good = quahties^f^Mr^icMaon whether as a privato citizen," as afootballer, as a, cricketer,, and as a member of the Manchestenßifte/Volunteers; ' jA CJ Mr Morey, the Captain of the Fire Brigade., also paid a high tribute to the "meritsof Mrwicholsofi as Tffireman?* 3 * 'Mr IT.
