Auckland, December 21. The work at Ellerslie this morning was not of much importance. British Lion, with a bandage on a fore leg, went once round with Whakawatea, and then put in a round by himself at half pace, Clanranald and Fratermte in company did two rounds on the plough at threequarter speed. It is understood that Lebel will not start for the Auckland Cup. The horse is believed to have split one of his hoofs. Hilda is now a firm favorite at 6 to 4, and 3 to 1 is quoted about Fraternite.
