A noticeable feature of the Queenslaud Government Gazette, as it makes its appearance week after week, is the large number of names of actinglieutenants whose resignations the s Governor hue been pleased to accept.' To the majority of mankind it may not be known that these resignations simply mean that the tenderers have mistaken their vocation in aspiring to a military life, and have failed to come up to professional requirements during their probationary period as acting-officers. While this state of things is not a feather in the caps of the aspirants, it is distinctly creditable to the military authorities, as evincing that they are in earnest about filling the commissioned ranks with none but capable men. — Illustrated Sydney News. Members of the Manchester Eifles are reminded of the capitation parade to be held to-morrow evening. Punctuality is specially requested.
