N.Z. Government Insurance
» We have just received from Mr Rogers an actual example of the bonus first allotted to the first policy (No. 1) issued by the Government Insurance Department, which, taking into consideration that the premium then charged by the Government office was 7s 9d for each LI 00 assured, lower than that charged by the leading Australian Mutual Office, the result is, we think, more than satisfactory, and will show how absurd the statements were which have at different times been circulated to the effect that the Government bonuses decrease. The policy in question wad taken out at the age of 29 for L3OO, and the following are the bonuses which have been allotted :—IBBO (11 years), L 36, being an annual rate of LI 2s per LIOO assured; 1885 (5 years), LlB, being an annual rate of LI 4s per LI 00 assured; 1890 (5 years), L 27, being an annual rate of LI 16s per LI 00 assured. The bonuses will be officially destituted Christmas. It may be interesting to some of our readers to know that policies taken out before the end of the present month will receive three years bonus in 1893. Intending proponents would therefore do well to avail themselves of this advantage.
