The Farmers' Clubs of the United Kingdom are forming a federation to protect themselves against the demands of the labourers. The commercial treaties entered into by the countries of the Triple Alliance will effect a reduction in the corn duties. America, Canada, and India will benefit by protection being modified, and English business in German markets wUI probably increase. In the course of an address, Mr Mor* ley said he was an adherent of a gradu* ated system of taxation on the basis of equality. The Times suggests that Australia should create a local public debt, and the Financial Times advocates the same step. The charge brought by M- Martus against his wife, Florence St. John, involve Mr Arthur Cohen, Financial Journalist. Sir Charles Russell appears for the petitioner, who admitted that before her marriage she was Marius' mistress, but denies that she has been guilty of adultery with Cohen. Commenting on the engagement of the Duke of Clarence and Avondale to Princess Victoria of Teck, The Times expresses the hope that the Queen will be able to lay her hand on the head of a child who will wear the.
