The officer commanding the district, Major Newall, has appointed Thurs-day,-the ,17th instant, for muster parade', and Friday morning following, at five o'clock, for volley and independent firing. Volunteers absent from muster parade may be fined LI. The sum of L6OO, voted by Parliaj ment for prizes for rifle shooting has i been allocated. The West Coast items ■ are ; Taranaki (109. men), L8 3s 6d ; Wariganui (583 men), L46 14s 6 ; \ Wellington, (477 men), L 44 15s 6d.
