Resignation of Mr T. K. Macdonald, M.H.R.
Quite a. sensation was caused in the city during Saturday, when it became known that Mr T. K. Macdonald, one of the three "Wellington representatives in ■ ; -' the House of Eepresentatives, had forwarded to the Speaker the formal resig. nation of his seat. The first shock of snr- ; prise was succeeded by a feeling of very general regret. He warned the Premier a month ago that his business afiaira might force the step upon him, but it wag not until half-past 8 on Saturday morning that he decided to take it, and:at;ilihe informed the Premier. " In connection -.. with the affair it may be mentioned that a petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Saturday, on behalf of Thomas Behoof Holmes and Bell, Blenheim, praying that Thomas Kennedy Macdonald, auctioneer, miffht be adjtiged.a bankriijjti 0 - \- ~ c ' 1 In view of the'v^caßcy' thns created in the representation tif Wellington, rumonr, with her thousand • tongues, is already . busy at work. Many names are mentioned, but it seems to be generally understood that Mr W.
