Messrs G. M. Snelson and E. Edwards were nominated for the Palmerston mayoralty. Mr A. J. Parsons has been elected j Mayor of Wanganui. The Horticultural Show, to be held in the Assembly Booms on Wednesday next, promises to be unusually attractive as the promised exhibits are all likely to be of a high order in their several classes. Our attention has been drawn to the fact that the Education Board of Wanganui is : guilfcy of robbing every country teacher, assistant teacher, and cadet in their employ of sixpence per mouth for exchauge on cheques. This is not just, nor in fact legal. By the train to-day (which, by the way, was half an hour late) Mv Dermer, of Awahuri, received a Jersey cow and calf from the herd of Mr Stuckey.
