Accidents and Fatalities
♦ UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION. I Dunedin, November 18. News has been received of a fatal boat accident at Shag Point. Three men were out fishing, when the boat capsized. One managed to reach the shore, but the others were drowned. One of those drowned was named Jnmes Holdows ; his body has been found. The name of the other man is not to hand. The woman Evans who attempted suicide yesterday is now out of danger. Hokitika. November 17. George Clarlsson, messenger of the Supreme Court, was found dead in bed this morning. . At the inquest the medical evidence was to the effect that deceased died of fatty degeneration of the heart. Auckland, November 18. The owner of a mill at Te Awainutn, Jas Coulthard, when working at a circular saw, had his left hand cut off by the saw close to the wrist. John Mason, perfumery manufacturer and hairdresser, died somewhat suddenly to-day of apoplexy. TisiAiiu, November 18. King, the victim of the railway accident, is dead. He was a single man, but stated that his fiance is on her way out from the Old Country. CHBiSTCHtrBCH, November 17. A bry, two years old, named Day, on Friday swallowed some vitriol used by his father at wool scouring, and died from the effects this morning. Poet Chalmers. This Day. Arriyed, the Hurumii, from London. During the voyage Percy Appleyard, an apprentice, fell oyerboard from the mizzen rigging. A boat was lowered, but nothing was seen of the unfortunate lad.
