I Birmingham Notes

— ' T~* : [from our own correspondent.] „ The Bank of New Zealapd as your readers have already been made aware, has opened an .agency here. From what I can hear the bank has done a fair amount of business hut I, in coDjmon with a good many more, think the hours are rather short viz. * from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This hardly gives settlers living at a distance a chance to arrive here in time to do their business. However we must be thankful for small mercies, and wish the bauk every success. Mr H. S. Muuro has been very busy in obtaining the names of those persons who are willing to assist in forming a Forester's Court here, and his efforts are* being crowned with success. La grippe is very prevalent about the Kiwitea at present, several families being quite prostrated with it, but we are bappy to say it has not; got to the heights of Birmingham yet. Mr Guy who has taken over the business of Mr R. Burne, arrived here last week and intends to make a start on Monday next. I trust he will be successful in his venture. I notice you mentioned Mr Perry had his arm broken, but you did not say how the accident happened, Mr Perry was engaged in helping Mi" Gibson, of the Kiwitea, to handle a colt when the animal made a rush at Mr Perry, knocked him down, and broke his arm. Mr Perry is doing well under the care of Dr Musson. .
