1 By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright (per press association.) Berlin, November 9. Owing to the failure of the HirchfieldWolff Bank, both members of the firm of Sommerfield and Son, bankers in thiscity, attempted to commit suicide. It is reported that one is dead, and the other is in a critical condition, The liabilities of the bank amount to several million marks. The Berlin Banks were open throughout Sunday in order to aid withdrawals, and thus restore confidence. The failure of Sommerfield and Sons, bankers, is attributed to their inyesting in Russian securities.
