(per press association.) Palmeuston North, This Day. Seven hundred entries have so far been received for the A, and P. Show, and when the list is complete the number will probably be about 800. There is an unusually large entry of horses. WEtMNQTojf, November 6. A fire occurred on board the Done, which is lying at the Queen's Wharf. Smoke was seen issuing from number four hatch, and on the hatch being opened it was found that some bales of wool which had been taken on board during the morning were burning. The flames were soon extinguished, and the damage proved to be comparatively trifling. The Post states that the action of Whitaker v. Hutchison, which arose out of the statements made by the latter in his place in Parliament, has been amicably settled. George Hunt, shunter, engaged by the Wellington-Manawatu Hallway Company was knocked down by some carnages today and run over. His left arm. was terribly crushed. This l>ay. The Wellington Rowing Club has presented W. Bridson, amateur champion sculler of New Zealand, with a gold albert and locket, Bridson represents New Zealand in the Victorian sculling championship to be rowed in Melbourne on Monday. The weather is fine for the military tournament at the Hutt race course today. A large number of visiting competitors are present, Launcelot Holmes is dead. Dropsy was the immediate cause of death. Dunedin, November 6. The body of Harry Richmond, aged six, was found in Dunedin Harbour ibis morning, The deceased went last evening to look for his father, who was working at the Milburn Cement Works, at Pclichet Bay, and was not again seen till his body was recovered.
