This Day. (Before Messrs Haybittle and Kirton J.P.s) F. Hansen, Alias Milne, a "boy aged nearly 10 years was charged with cutting: and wouuding Donald McLennan, aged 5 years. J. McLennan, deposed ; He resided at Halcombe, where his children attend school ; on Tuesday last met his boy aged 5 years, with his hand cut, the boy said " Milne had done it," went and told the boy's mother, who said the boy had teen unruly ; afterwards went to find Milne and saw him with a knife in his hand chasing some school girls ; made the boy give up the knife; accused had admitted cutting his sou'b hand : then gave information to the police. Helen Hansen, otherwise Milne, deposed : She was the mother of the accused who was aged nearly 10 years ; he was born on the 15th April, (could not re member the year) ; the father left her over nine years ago : had sin.cc hyed with William Milne as his wife ; the boy had been sent to school, where he threw stones at the schoolmistress ; could do nothing with the boy, who was born delicate ; did not think he was right in his head ; the knife produced was the property of accused ; the other children teased him and provoked him ; he had often attempted to set fire to houses ; had yery little work to do ; was now acting as attendant to an old man. Accused was convicted and recommended to be sent to an Industrial school.
