Borough Elections

In another column we publish the official notice given by the Returning Officer of the results of the poll on Thursday. It will be seen that Messrs Lethbridge, Carthew, and J. C. Thompson were elected in the order named, and that Mr Fowles was the unsuccessful candidate. After Mr Hill had read out the list on the night of the election, Mr J. C. Thompson made a brief speech in which he thanked the electors for the confidence they continned to repose in him. Neither Mr Lethbridge nor Mr Carthew were present, but they return thanks to their fellow ratepayers in our advertising columns today. ■
