' A romantic story comes from the pretty village of Tiiet. There, it is c id (wiitea the Times correspondent), James 11. buried his crown and the Valuable relics of his family, and for lYiore. than 'forty years all over the neighbourhood, from time to time, people have dug for the buried treasure. Nearly half a century ago a mysterious woman appeared at Tiiel. She bought a horse aud large pstatPs, and went up and down the village, having no dealings with the inhabitants, and arousing great curiosity;, but after a time some neighbours made her acquaintance, and learned that she was in search of the tjrownV-of- James 11. Legend and jomance soon took root m the soil upturned i by . this odd woman's mysteTious :; diggings on her' estates, and rumour 'finally said that the lady, Mdme. Deville, was a daughter of George IV. and Queen Caroline, and In ifTrppf thereof the Fleur de Lis, as •everybody knew, was on her shoulder. Moreover im her bedroom was an ;&ncient, bed adorned with crowns on -escutcheons. Lord Palmerston was -Said to have visited her. Finally she • diedj 'but the legend did not die with &er.
