Although the weather was flue the attendance was Hot so good as inigrht haye been expected, only, about ,' 600 persous, including a fair sprinkling--of ladies, being present. The course was- - in spleudid order, and owner's aud jockeys- ! were all loud it* its praise*- The fields ou the whole were not large,- a&d'the major- . ity of the/wras 'Were ea9y r especially in! the Cupt Several horses came down but beyond a few bruises,- no injury was 2 ' done: The officials worked hard to make' the meeting a success as far as they were*" concerned, and not a little praise is due-' ; to the- courteous secretary,. Mr E. (iood--1 Behere, f or the manner in> whichheperformed his ardous duties-. Mr Hannett,-" the starter, also deserves credit" for get--*---ting the] horses- away together in each,' race. The only reason for complaints during the day was the oversight, througli* some misunderstanding, to rembye the* hurdles, in the Cup, opposite the saddling-' . paddock, „ for the run home, until tntf horsetf were racing down the straight and, in consequence part of the hurdles' had' to be left, together with the pegs forholding them np, which might have been--the cause of an accident bad there been a large field.. After they had gone half the distance Manganoho took the lead and held it to the straight, where Doncaster challenged him, and after a splendid race between these two the latter won by halF a length.
