Freemasonry
The interesting letter j over ihe signature of " Cosmopolitan" -appeared in the Dunedin Star : — lt is a remarkable' fact that in ail couutries where Freemasonry is prohibited .Tews •are more or. less persecuted. Masonry breathes a spirit of universal charity. The manliness exercised by Masons towards 1 even those of a different creed is the recognition of universal brotherhood; so beautifully taught in tie parable -of the "Good Samaritan." ' The doctrine of " curae and bless not" . is neither British, manly, Masonic, nor Christian. Masonry in Russia is not tolerated, and the Jew is persecuted. Recently in New Zealand {Sir George Grey, with laudable magnanimity; has "interested* our own Parlia>uieut in the cause of the persecuted -Jews by forwarding a powerful address to the Czar of Kusaia. We're His Majesty to follow in th^e •steps of other potentates who have become Freemasons, he would at once not only protect the Jew, but learn the "secret that a good Mason is an honest man—" the noble6t work of ' God" ; .and the Czar's laws would then " give .toleration to all sorts and eon-"""-■ditionsibf' men, living in charity one with another.
