t The reports of lambing from all quarters of our district, are very favourable — up to the ayerage, though at firßt the mortality among both latnbs and ewes was great, probably in consequence of the severe frosty weather. Quite an eventful month. Four businesses have changed hands, a watchmaker has located himself here, and Mr Bett from Palmerston has opened a wheelwright's shop. He has a thoroughly reliable man in charge for him. Qur Ashursb carpenters are engaged on Mi\ Jones' house in your part of the country. Mr Jones was formerly a partner of the firm of Jones and Peters, well and favourably known here. *'|The Victoria Mill is cutting some splendid totara just now, remarkably clean, well adopted for dressing. It comes some distance by train, from pretty close to the Pohangina school. The very latest in Watches ! S. J. Thompson is selling a new kej'less short - wind watch, 50 per cent cheaper than the JWaterbury. .He bas also received a sample of tbe cold. cased Water bury .watch, Ladie9 size, short* wind- A real work of art and keeps splendid time. — -Adyt.
