For .some time past it has been rumoured that the Eussian Government intended to impose an export duty on wheat, bnt the. statement is • now officially denied. Washington, August 2l. •The American --.Wheat Trust has failed for 4,000, 000 dollars. J The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile' Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable advice from their London office, dated 5 1st instant :— Tallow': Market easier, and has -declined 3d' per cwt. since last report. ' Frozen Meat— Both beef and mutton markets are dull, but quotations are unchanged since last telegram. For lamb the market is firmer, and prime lambs are quoted at carcase s£d per lb. The weather is very unsettled.
