Birmingham Notes
(from our own correspondent.) We notice the great improvements Mr Tolley is making on his section in the way of building a cottage and fencing about two acres of land for the purpose of making a garden and orchard. Mr Tolley has just come amongst us from Newcastle, N.S.W,, where he has been engagedfin Christian work for some, time. He held the position of Secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association where he made many friends. We wish him every success in his new undertaking. Mr Tolley preached on Sunday evening last, in the Town Hall, to a fair congregation, a powerful sermon, taking for his text : " Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out," John, 6 chapter, 37 verse. There was diviue service held in the Feilding Small Farm Block on Sunday last for the first time, at Messrs Miller Bros. House. The Rev W. E. Birks preached to a good congregation of the settlers. We notice that Mr G. Anyon has been very busy stumping and clearing the site for the new church. Mr Anyon appears to be the moving spirit in all the work connected with the new church.
