Corpe, re matter contained in Mr Lucas' resolution at the last meeting of the Board, and letter received from the Secretary in reference to the same. ; From F. A. Monckton, acting chairman EangitikeiP. and P. Co., limited, askingfor share of Board's printing. From W. A. Sandilands, re sale of land, or lease, by Me H. Corh?oot to Mr Oowdryi arid, asking that his name be substituted on the rate roll for the same. From Felix Stratford, re disposal of «ection to Mr F. B. Mcßeth. From F. B. Mcßeth, re his acquirement of Mr Stratford's section. A letter was received from J. Shapeleski asking compensation for carting pipes for a previous contract, and which had been given up; also, asking for extension of ,time for contract on the XimibohonEoad. ' GENERAL. Mr Chssold waited on the Board and asked to have about 12 chains of his road metalled in the Pohangina Ward. " Mr Lucas said Mr Ohssold was entitled to the road, but that it would de pend upon the weather and funds before it could be completed. The matter' was left to Mr Lucas and MrCliss-jldtoconferonas to the best means of metalling the said road. Re Mr &. Perry's contract for the Haynes' Eoad, Mr Williamson suggested that this matter be left in the hands of •the Engineer to deal with. This was adopted. Mr J. Lowe waited on the Board in reference to havingt a shelter shed erected in the district where he is at present employed. Mr Lucas thought it necessary to pr.o yide these conveniences, Mr. Taylor quoted the plan of Go vernment as an example of the way m which the? treated their men. Mr Williamson thought as Lowe was s > jar away from home, that it became a necessity to do something 1 in the matter. The Board agreed to consider the mat ter. - Mr Lowe thanked the Board and retired. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Eeid, That the name of Mr E. Bngg be placed on the rate roll instead of Mr Stretton ; also, that of William Oowdrey and Eliza Cowdrey be placed on the rate rell instead of Mr IL Cornfoot ; and section 47, Birmingham, from F. Stratford toF. B. Mcßeth.— Carried. Mr Lucas said, in reference to Mr ■Corpe's letter, that his attention had "beeu drawn to the matter hj a settler. The Engineer explained that the timber had been sledged in the middle of the load and had cut it up to a depth of 2ft, The matter then dropped. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded bj Mr Shannon, That permission be given to Messrs Denton, Smith, Nicholas, Mcl£enzie and Fraser, to fell road-lines oe the Board's terms: 30s per acre, everything down, and to be paid for wher passed by the Engineer, if the Board is ii -funds. Also, Mrs Rogers and Frank Calthrop can also fell road-lines on th< ' rame terms, provided they fell <he fall width of the road. — Camed. Proposed by Mr Holdeo, seconded bj Mr Eeid, That all road, cemetry, gravel and ferry reserves wribii the Kiwitea jEoad* Board district be vested ia thif IBoard, and that this be in iostruc ion foj ithe Secretary to apply.— Clamed. Mr Williamson introduced the quesfcioi -of advertising, and thought those settler who subscubed to the Mercury were en titled to get their information througl ■that paper. Mr'Eeid said he had made enquiries o ■the proprietors of the Advocate, and' thai stated that advertisements given to then would be charged at the same rates a previously. Mr Taylor understood that the Martoi IBorough Council were getting their ad vertismg done in the two papers for th came money. Mr Williamson said that the proprietor of the Adyocate knew on which side thei bread was "buttered, and they must suppl, theio readers with the requisite informs tion. At present the Mercury was oblige to do the Board's work for nothing. The following resolution was propose Mr Williamson, seconded by Mr Hay thorne, That the Clerk write to the pre prietors of the Eangitikei Advocate, ash mg if they are willing to take the advei tiaing of the Kiwitea Eoad Board in cor nection with the Mercury at reduct prices, if not it is thought necessary < call tenders for the above work.— Carnei Mr Holden suggested that if any r< ductien was asked from the Adyocat the Feilding Stab should be also « eluded. . ia ;Mr Shannon was also of the same opi! * Mr Williamson said that difficul jeould be obviated by calling for tender Pjojxfcbdby Mr Shaunon, seconded I
