Borough Matters ii-— — ♦ ■ — At the last meeting of the Borough Council, it will be seen from our report of che proceedings,- that a, resolution was unanimously passed appointing a committee to report on the; best means of fencing in those portions of Manchester Square, which are to be planted with the ornamental trees; and shrubs so kindly donated by wellwishers of the Borough. We have no > doubt the gentlemen who have undertaken the duty will be able to make recommendations which, >pilj^be acceptable by the Council anqf the ratepayers. We compliment the Council on the: ready assistance they are always pre ' pared to give in these matters. We also think it was a graceful act to pass a resolution thanking the mayor of Wellington for thet hospitality he extended to our worthy Mayor, with the other delegates who attended the Municipal Conference recently held in the Empire City. The fact that the Council is able to report their finances are in an exceptionally flourishing condition is an indisputable token that the affairs of the Borough have been entrusted to men who are keenly alive to the best interests of their fellQW ratepayers.
