The main, features of the Speech from the Throne were a reference to federation and railway reform. It was announced that among the measures pro* posed to be submitted to Parliament for consideration was a Bill iJ.royio.ing for reform of the electoral laws in the direction of adopting the " one man' one vote " priii* ciple, and extending the franchise to women, and anether dealing with local government. Eleven widows and twenty-two ehilddren are rendered destitute by the wreck of the Taramung. 'Sydwet, June 23. The weather is moderating. Many of the rivers are in high flood, and one man has been drowned. Nearly three inches of rain fell in 24 hours.
