Pohangina Notes
■♦ (fhom ouk own correspondent.) The weather seems a bit severe on us this winter what with rain, bail, and enow. One of the severest frcsts ever experienced we had .here on Sunday last. The ice was, of a great thickness and did BOt disappear until well on m the evening. About 5.30 vn the afternoon- we la 1 a slight earthquake which was followed by a stead? mild rain. One effect - of the cold weather' was that it changed • the appearance of the pasture. Bush falling is' now being pushed on and the ting of the woodman's axe is heard in all directions. - - . I hear there is to be a. cage rigged across the Pohanguia river, opposite the school, to convey passengers from side to side. This will be a great convenience to the public, and" no oiie will grudge the payment of a small fee for it, especially as the cage will be of so much use to the schoolchildren. As to putting up a bridge : well, l we will talk about that when gold is found in the ranges.
