A day or two ago- a younjj man numed I Mines, who is employed by Mr Pickering, butcher, of Feilding, had a very narrow escape of drowning. Ho was working sheep near the slaughter house, when one ' of them plunged into the < Mangaone stream, which, at .the time, was swollen ' by the rains. Not knowing, the depth of • the stream the young fellow went in after i 'the sheep, and soon got out of his depth, i In his eff )rts to net out he soon became < exhau.-ted. and benumbed by the cold I « ater, and but for the timely aid of Mr < Pickering, who went, to his rescue, he . would cprtainly soon haye been drowned, i An hour or two after, h'-wever, he seemed < nono the worse for bis cold balli — Advo" ' cate, ' !
