On Thursday night, Mr Rogers, agent of the Government Life Insurance Department lectured m the Assembly Rooms to a moderate but appreciative audience. Tbe Mayor, Mr W, G. Haybittle, occudied the chair. Mr Rogers secured the attention and interest of his hearers for an hour and a half. A intervals he gave recitations and sougs which went far to enteitain his hearers. At the conclusion., of his address, on the motion of Mr F. V, Lethbridge, an unanimous yote of thanks was passed to Mr Rogers, and a similar compliment was paid to the chairman. Mr Tolley advertises that he has commenced business as a carpenter and joiner, also contractor for general repairs to buildings. He will undertake work also in Birmingham.
