The monthly meeting of the Education Board was held' on Monday evening. J?re?ent — Messrs Carson (chairman), Fry, Sanson, Bridge, Baker^ Hurley, Beckett, and Bey. J. Boss. - Minutes.— The minutes of the previous monthy meeting was read and confirmed. Appointments. — The Board went into Committee to consider appointments and other business. On the Board resuming the iollowmg report was read and adopted :— S f oney Creek. — Letter from the Stoney Creek Committee ' applying for' the appointment of Dora Reed as cadet. Resolved, That she be appointed. Palmerston.— Letter from. Mrs Mellish applying -for -appointment under the Board. Resolved that, her name -he placed on the list. ' Letter from Miss Lizzie Verderi, L re "absence. Resolved to inform Miss Verden that she must-com-ply with the -regulations re attendance, -also thafras, with regard to her applicafion for an of salary the Board noticed that she has nofpresented herself for examination for. the .last two yo'ars, •and that if she does not pass at the next Teachers' Certificate Examination the Board wul require her, to retire from the service. . - . Poliangina.— Letter from Mr Reeves, of Pohangina, giving au explanation in reply to his Committee's letter. Besolved, Tlhat Mr ' Reeve's attention be called to <slause'2B 6f:the Board's "regulations, and he be informed that if there is not an improvement in the matters therein mentioned at the time-of the Inspector's next visit, the Board may deem it necessary to remove him.; Further that 'the\ attention of the Committee be called to the dirty stateof.the floors &c, for which the Committee' are responsible. Sanson. — Letter from Mr George Grant, of Sandon, applying for leave of absence from tlie middle of August till the end of the year. Moved by Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Sanson, That leave be granted without pay. — Carried. " Hiwinui. — Application for residence at Hiwinai ;" resolved.' to call for tenders to be referred to the Executive Committee. Holidays. — Letters'. from . Upo % kongaro and Denlair- re postponement of holidays. Besolved, That there is -no . occasion to postpone them, as the examinations will be held later.' ' > Feuding. — Letter from the Feilding Committee respecting sundry repairs. Referred to Mr Fry. Moved- by Mr Fry, - seconded by Mr. Baker, and carried, That, the advertising for tenders. for.Schools at Apiti and Pern berton be held over until the roads are dry enough to enable timber to be carted. JResoived," - 'That the school , hitherto mown as Spur Boad be called Pukeroa.
