(PEB PBEBS ASSOCIATION). Sydney, May 19: — Parliament was opened this afternoon by the Governor, tlie Earl of Jersey. Quite a demonstratron was made against the Governor, both on his arrival at and departure from the Houses of Parliament, by a mob of so-called Socialists, who collected round the entrance to the building, and hooted and groaned at His Excellency when he made his appear ance. Seve ral prominent members of the So eialist body delivered harangues to the crowd, and gave expression to a number of revolutiontarvsentiments Rockhampton, May 19. Intelligence has been received in town to|the effect that the Unionists intend to make a more desperate resisfcence to free labourers on Bimerah station' than they have previously offered. It is reported that the Unionists are threatening to make Bimerah the Waterloo of the pres. ent struggle.
